IN-CLASS
Today, we are fortunate enough to have the laptops in class! We will be using these to research online to find the answers to the following questions. You may choose to either work with one partner of your choosing or work by yourself. (if you do work in groups, I reserve the right to split partners up if they choose to be either inefficient or wasting time) Please write your answers on a google doc and "share" it with me by the end of the class period today! You should have plenty of time but if you do not get it done, it will be homework for tomorrow -- I need the document shared with me by the end of study hall tomorrow

- How many more trips did Columbus take to the world he "found"?
- On these later trips, there else did he explore?
- Research the concept of Columbus bringing disease with him to the New World. What was its effect?
- Was Columbus kind to the natives during his later voyages? GIVE AT LEAST 5 REASONS WHY OR WHY NOT
- Why do you think Columbus would do these things to the native people?
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
Understanding that each student will have answered each question before the end of the hour, we will turn back to our KWL worksheets and how add still more things we've learned about Columbus's voyages and explorations

For the past two weeks, you've been drilled in each four core classes about Columbus. So what? Why does it matter? Why are we teaching you both sides of the story?

We will be watching a PBS film on Christopher Columbus's beginnings and explorations. This film does a good job at not only telling both sides of the story but also about the health risks that Columbus brought to the natives of his explroations
